What may look different from Excel
- Charts, pictures and shapes are left out.
- Conditional formatting (colours that change with the values) is not applied. Cells print in their normal colours.
- Formulas show the answer saved in the file. We do not recalculate.
- Every font prints as Roboto, so line breaks and column fit can differ a little.
- Mixed formatting inside one cell (for example one bold word) prints in the cell’s main style.
- Double and dashed borders print as solid lines. Links are not clickable.
- Excel’s own page headers, footers and manual page breaks are not copied. Use the header and footer boxes above.
- Text in Arabic, Urdu, Hebrew, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai or Indic scripts is not supported yet. That sheet cannot be converted.
- Password-protected files are not supported. Macros in .xlsm files are ignored. The limit is 25 MB.
- Old .xls files keep numbers, widths and merged cells, but most colours and fonts are lost.
Privacy note
Your file
Your file is opened and turned into a PDF by your own browser, on your own device. It is not uploaded, sent or saved anywhere else. There is no server behind this tool that could receive it.
What does load from the internet
The first time you use the tool, your browser downloads four small helper files (code only) from cdnjs, a public code library run by Cloudflare. Like any web page you open, this lets cdnjs see your internet address and browser type. Those requests do not contain your file, its name or anything from inside it.
What we keep
Nothing. The tool sets no cookies and saves nothing in your browser. It has no sign-in, no ads and no tracking or analytics code of its own. When you close the page or press “Convert another file”, your file is dropped from the page.
Your PDF
The PDF has no watermark. Its file properties hold the title (your file’s name) and the name of this tool. Any header or footer text you type goes only into your PDF.
Check it yourself
Open your browser’s developer tools, go to the Network tab, and convert a file. You should see only the four helper files and nothing sent out afterwards.
Good to know
Your device does the work, so very big files use your device’s memory. The rest of this website is separate from this tool and may work differently.
How to convert Excel to PDF
- Drop your file in the box, or click Choose a file. It can be .xlsx, .xlsm, .xls or .csv, up to 25 MB.
- Tick the sheets you want. Click a sheet name to see it in the preview.
- Pick the paper size, orientation and scaling. Fit to page width is the default.
- Click Download PDF. To get one PDF for each sheet, change Several sheets first.
How to get the best PDF
- Set a print area in Excel. Select the cells, then go to Page Layout, Print Area, Set Print Area. This tool uses it. Untick Use the print area from Excel to convert the whole sheet.
- Fit the columns. Fit to page width shrinks a wide sheet so no column is cut off. If the text gets too small, pick Actual size. The columns then split across pages.
- Use landscape for wide sheets. Automatic picks landscape when the sheet is wider than the page.
- Hide what you don’t need. Hidden rows and columns are left out of the PDF. Grouped rows that are collapsed are hidden too, so see how to group rows in Excel.
- Fix ##### cells. A number that doesn’t fit its column shows as #####. Widen the column in Excel first. This guide on making all cells the same size in Excel shows how.

Fit the sheet to the page first

FAQ
How do I convert Excel to PDF without losing formatting?
This tool keeps cell colors, bold and italic text, borders, merged cells, column widths and number formats such as dates and currency. It leaves out charts, pictures and conditional formatting. Fonts print as Roboto, so a line may break in a different place than in Excel.
How do I fit an Excel sheet on one page?
In this tool, set Scaling to Fit sheet on one page. In Excel, go to Page Layout and set both Width and Height to 1 page under Scale to Fit. A big sheet gets small text, so check the preview.
How do I convert only one sheet?
In this tool, untick every sheet except the one you want. In Excel, Save As PDF uses the active sheet unless you pick Entire workbook in Options.
Can I turn each sheet into its own PDF?
Yes. Tick the sheets, then set Several sheets to One PDF per sheet. Your browser may ask to allow multiple downloads.
Can it convert a password-protected file?
No. Remove the password in Excel, save a copy, and use the copy.
Is it free and private?
Yes. There’s no signup, no watermark and no limit on how many files you convert. Your file is converted in your browser and is not uploaded. The converter’s own code has no analytics or tracking. This page uses Google Analytics to count visits.
Does it work with Arabic, Hebrew, Chinese or Hindi text?
Not yet. The tool blocks sheets with those scripts so you don’t get a broken PDF. Text in Latin, Cyrillic and Greek letters works.
